Stable Laser Systems
Stable Laser Systems builds ultra-stable optical cavities in Boulder, the quiet reference every precision quantum experiment needs.
Founded by current and former CU Boulder scientists, Stable Laser Systems makes ultra-stable optical reference cavities and stabilized laser systems, devices that hold a laser's frequency steady to parts in 10¹⁵ or better. If a frequency comb is a ruler for light, a stable cavity is the bedrock the ruler is bolted to.
Every optical atomic clock, much of precision spectroscopy, and a growing share of quantum computing experiments need a laser whose frequency doesn't wander, and SLS has been supplying that need to labs worldwide for years. It's a small company with an outsized footprint in the acknowledgments sections of physics papers.
Why it matters to the Valley: the ecosystem's connective tissue, the vendor whose hardware appears in everyone else's experiments, three buildings away from where the technique was invented.
Supplies frequency-stabilized laser references to atomic-clock, spectroscopy, and quantum-computing labs worldwide.
