Quantum Engineering program. Arvada quantum campus partner.
Quantum Engineering at Mines
Colorado School of Mines runs an interdisciplinary Quantum Engineering program in Golden. The program offers undergraduate study (including a quantum engineering minor) and graduate study through the PhD, with coursework that spans hardware, materials, and the systems engineering quantum platforms depend on.
Mines is engineering-first by design, which makes it a natural complement to CU Boulder's physics-led pipeline. The valley needs both: physicists who can build new qubit modalities, and engineers who can turn them into systems that ship.
Role in the valley
Mines is a partner institution in the Elevate Quantum consortium. Faculty research connects to the Colorado quantum companies a few exits up the highway, and the program is among the small group of US universities that treat quantum as its own engineering discipline.
Universities are part of the valley's infrastructure but are not companies. We profile them here for context: who trained the founders, where the talent pipeline starts, and which campuses anchor the consortium. For company coverage, see the Company Directory.
