What we know

Microsoft's topological qubit approach, developed partly through QuTech, aims to create inherently error-resistant qubits. A topological qubit encodes protection in its physical structure, requiring no error correction overhead.

Most of the field is skeptical. Microsoft is not. The 2025 announcement of a topological qubit milestone restarted that debate.

Editorial note

The Millikelvin covers the Colorado quantum ecosystem from the inside. Foreign organisations on this site carry stub profiles only, restricted to publicly reported facts. We expand a profile when the org is part of an active Colorado story, not as deep-dive coverage of foreign ecosystems on their own terms.
