Governor Jared Polis
Colorado's governor has personally appeared at multiple ecosystem milestones, from the Elevate Quantum Tech Hub announcement to the IonQ Boulder lab ribbon cutting.
Governor Jared Polis has been a consistent public presence at major Colorado quantum ecosystem milestones. He attended the May 12, 2026 ribbon cutting of IonQ's new 22,000 sq ft Boulder R&D lab alongside IonQ CEO Niccolo de Masi, and has actively championed the 2023 US Department of Commerce Quantum Tech Hub designation, followed by the $40.5M EDA Phase 2 award in July 2024 that activated state matching funds and a pipeline of up to $900M for the Front Range.
The Polis administration's Office of Economic Development approved a $2.75M incentive package under 'Project Electron' to support IonQ's Boulder expansion, one example of state-level economic development effort directed specifically at quantum companies.
Polis's repeated personal appearances at quantum milestones signal that the state has made quantum technology a strategic industrial priority for Colorado, not merely a passive beneficiary of federal research investment.
